Today is the worst day of my life, it's the day the world of adult hit me like a train

the world of adult is just as bad as they say it is

My parents car, the one I was going to use to drive to college until I could afford to get my own broke today, I also learned my mom essentially thinks I'm a failure, and I might not be able to go to college this year . . . . or any year soon . . . .

I posted a thing a while ago where I ended with FML

but actually t._.t my life right now seriously just >_>

the good side of this is if college does fall through I'll be getting a place with a few friends most likely . . . this means I'll have more time to be on the server, as It'll be a job, and then when I'm off I can do whatever the t._.t I want instead of what my parents want me to do.

Welcome to the club! You're not alone. Been there done that. It sucks. Feels like shit, but it gets better as time goes on.

I had a laugh about how trivial everything was in retrospect, I only made a huge hissy out of it because my family was enraged about it so I thought it was a big deal, upon going to a friends house to calm down I was like . . . . . what am I worrying about? I don't NEED to go to college THIS year . . . . if I want to I can do it next year, and that would give me time to replace the vehicle that broke down

I didn't go to college until I was 24/25. College is beautiful in the sense that you don't have to be a certain age to go.

You'll still be alright.

And while vehicles are necessary....there are bicycles, mopeds, public transportation...

Cept for the bike part. . . I can't ride a bike. . . need a license in PA to drive a moped. . . and public transportation where I live is non-existant. I HAVE TO WALK :_:

I love my bike, but my college of choice is about 3 hours away by bike . . . no, and HELL NO public transport . . . . I've been talking to some friends, we MIGHT be able to work a thing out, but I'm still not sure . . . if I don't go to college, I gotta move out, can't deal with 'you're not in college' mom

I don't like public transportation but I've had to use it when I had no other choice. Part of being an adult. Sometimes you gotta swallow your pride and do what you gotta do.

Swallow my pride, and bike 6 hours a day

Also, it's not pride, it's more of a fear I'm a very paranoid person . . . .

My husband used to bike over 80 miles a week.

And I had to make sacrifices. Instead of going to the art school that I dreamed of going to, I went to a different commerce.

You have time. You will make your own mistakes and decisions. That's also part of being an adult. Live and learn.

I've ridden public transportation before, the bus, through the bad part of town. Tbh its safer to ride the bus than it is to bike if you have to go through a bad part of town or something like that, or for long distances, plus you can meet people on the bus. My grandmother rode the bus to work every day. Hell my grandparents rode the tram, THE TRAM, when there was one in the center of the roads. It's kinda cool to hear about it.

I definitely would prefer public transportation to bicycling. Especially around here. After the accident we've kind of sworn off two wheeled vehicles of any kind.

Horse.... You wouldn't be in control of your safety on a bicycle. You would still be at the mercy of other people in cars and trucks. You cannot assume they will see you or care.
Jon was hit by a car this March while riding a scooter. The helmet on his head was the only thing that saved his life that day. His head went through the lady's windshield and then hit the concrete.
She didn't see him when she turned left in front of him. He had the right of way.

I'm not saying it will be 100% of the time, it never is, but if I'm on a bike I have more personal control than sitting on a bus, I don't like not having personal control

College is not necessary.

Also, did you know that many European universities offer free tuition to all students, even the foreign ones?

You just have to have $6k/year for living expenses, and a large majority of German classes are available in English.

I will only be paying around 6k a semester, which considering I'll be going into the engineering field is easy enough to pay off

Although I was aware of the above fact I still appreciate you bringing it up

And the biggest issue I had with going this year was transport, although I may have worked something out, time will tell

Lots of public transit in Europe.

I'd still need means of getting to Europe, and as I explained above, I'm not a huge fan of public transit, it scares me

That coupled with the fact that I don't wish to live in Europe means I'm probably not going there XD
